Unusually colorful, loud and with more than 60 children in a crowd of 200 people - that's how it was in the industrial district Donaueschingen-Aasen, Obere Wiesen Street 10, on Saturday the 30th of March. The reasons therefore were the opening-ceremony of the new AP&S manufacturing plant II and the 15th anniversary of the company. All employees with their families were invited. Dancing airdancers to the sound of the company's brass band "Cleanroom music" and the band "Vinyl", an extraordinary showact by the artist "Ray Styles", a bouncy castle and exciting children's program as well as a top-class buffet from the famous local restaurant "die burg" created a festive atmosphere.
The construction of the new building started in June 2018 and ended in March 2019. Over two million euros have been invested. With a ground area of 1000 m² the manufacturing plant increases the company's production capacity. The existing production hall at the company's headquarters, located in the same street, was't enough for the incoming volume of orders anymore.
An important target for the new production site is the consistent implementation of lean manufacturing, that means the introduction of a holistic production system, which supports an efficient manufacturing of the AP&S wet process equipment. "Although belonging to the field of special plant engineering, our wet process tools are based on a modular system. The space in the new building provides us the opportunity to introduce an optimized production line. Through shorter lead times and increased production depth we bring the added value to the fore. Cost optimization and shorter delivery times are the requirements of our target market we have to comply with," says Alexandra Laufer-Müller CEO of the company.
Furthermore, pilot and development projects, such as in the field of component construction, will be located in the new production hall. In the future, selected components will be assembled by AP&S itself, in order to increase know-how and to identify and optimize the cost drivers.
Bright, open, modern and spacious the new AP&S building offers plenty of space for shaping. Ten production employees have already moved into the new building, which can accommodate up to 50 employees.
